6n6challenge:

As you may have heard, the Susan G. Komen for the Cure Foundation bowed to political pressure from misguided anti-abortion groups, and has announced the end its commendable history of funding cancer screenings and breast health education programs at Planned Parenthood Health Centers.

Whatever your beliefs are towards abortion, the facts in this case are:

  • Planned Parenthood has provided approximately 4 million breast exams and referrals for 70,000 mammograms in the last five years.
  • No Komen funding ever went towards paying for abortions or birth control. (LA Times)

If you want to voice your frustration with the Komen Foundation, don’t just huff and puff and make an angry facebook post about it.  Consider making a donation to Planned Parenthood and encourage your friends and family to follow your lead.

If, conversely, you approve of the Komen Foundation decision, by all means show your support by making a donation to the Komen Foundation HERE.  Both groups have done wonderful work in educating patients and preventing cancer, and neither should be penalized as a result of this unfortunate news.

I just… How do these people sleep at night?

This is infuriating. Can these prolife groups just go ahead and say they want women to die? How do you sleep at night...
